The Job
These clients wanted a garden room for use as a gym and a relaxing and entertaining space. As their house is a listed building, their garden room could not be built under permitted development and required planning permission. We put them in touch with a planning consultant who led them through the process and permission was granted.
Plans were drawn up and we built a 4 x 3m garden room with aluminium bifold doors with internal blinds within the glass units, to help minimise glare and heat from the sun, and allow for privacy. They also had a picture window built to either side, overlooking the beautiful garden and house. They chose Wi-Fi controlled lighting to the garden room and feature lighting to the surrounding garden area. This allows them to turn their lighting on and off where ever they are with the use of a smart phone app as well as a light switch in the garden room . To heat the room in winter, we fitted a Wi-Fi controlled electric heater that allows for maximum comfort as the room can be pre heated before use.
Externally this room was clad with high quality cedar to three sides, and Therma wood to the back.
